Introduction

The theme of the application is about visiting a virtual reality museum. It allows people to have a real experience of visiting a museum and interact with different artworks via a quest headset and two controllers.
Description of the application
The application gives people an immersive experience of visiting in a museum in the real life. In the virtual interface, people can change directions and move around with two controllers. Besides, there are two artworks in the museum. One is a Greek vase and the other one is a Viking shield. Interactions with two artworks are available to people via two controllers.
There is no doubt that artworks are amazing and exquisite. Most people would like to take a careful look of them. However, artworks are not allowed to touch and most of them are separated by glass covers due to their historical value. Although some museums offer online content that allows people to interact with artworks through mouse, the size of the artwork is limited. The scale is made to fit computer screens. If the screen is 11-inch, people can only see a small size ancient Greek sculpture.
Considering with above issues, the application needs to allow people to have a detailed look of the artwork in the real-world size and directly touch to the artwork. Virtual reality technology is appropriate to be selected as the interface technology. VR can bring an immersive experience to people that let people feel like visiting the museum in the real world. VR also allows designers to design a no glass cover environment in the virtual interface. Besides, VR can build 3D objects in different sizes in the virtual interface. So, it is easy to create a real-world size artwork by using VR.
Interaction Design
The application allows people to grab virtual contents by holding down the hand trigger button and release virtual contents by releasing the hand trigger button. This interaction aims to meet the requirement of allowing people to take a careful look.
People can take the vase up and close to them. They can also hold the hand trigger button then rotate their wrist to see the back side, top side and every side of the vase. People do not need to worry the vase too small because the vase has real-world size.
Another interaction is using shield to destroy the vase. Sometimes people will have evil thoughts of destroying something. Or just wondering what happen if they destroy an artwork? This interaction can help people to vent their feelings and explore curiosity.
Technical Development
The interface technology used is oculus. People can use OVR Plugin via oculus quest1/quest2 (VR headset) and controllers. Oculus Rift is the software that supports Unity and contains large amounts of VR apps. Besides, Oculus Rift also has the ability to run projects built by Unity.
Grab: Grabbing virtual contents by holding down the hand trigger button (button beside the controller) and releasing virtual contents by releasing the hand trigger button.
Destroy: Grabbing the shield on the ground and using it to collide the Greek vase. Then the vase will explode into pieces.
3D Models
Built by five cubes (walls and roof) and one plane (floor). To make it be a museum to place artworks in.
A cube. Used to be a stall.
A Greek vase used to be an artwork. Can be interacted.
A Viking shield that can be grabbed and destroy the vase.
